Breastfeeding infection: An outlook to remedy

Becoming a mother and taking the charge of motherhood is every woman's dream. When you realize your dream then you will be something different. Thousand congrats on being a mother and welcome to the world of wonder-bond of affection. You may be alarmed at the first instance as to what are the elementary precautions to be taken to feed a baby and how to overcome infection while breastfeeding keeping you and your kid safe from infection.

The commonly visible troubles during breastfeeding are engorgement of breast and sore nipples. Sore nipples are due to influx of milk pushing the ducts to unlock or by infection or improper positioning of breasts while lactating or not taking proper care while milking your infant. In such a condition let your breasts expose to air and sunlight and massage slowly the nipples with some drops of milk. Avoid creams and ointments except lanolin. While the engorgement of the breasts will put on pain, and swelling up of breasts increases, your child will deprive of holding the nipples in its mouth. One general cause of engorgement may be due to heat, so just to reduce the swelling lie flat in a warm bath on your stomach and cover your chest with a warm cloth. When you identify infection symptoms then right away meet your doctor or a specialist.

During the early weeks of milking, properly nurse your kid giving it your breast milk solely instead of supplementary milk bottles or soothers and if your infant adapts soothers, pacifier, etc., while sleeping don't let it accustom to that as halting breastfeeding in early days will result in swelling of the breasts. The first 3 days' milk after childbirth is said to be Colustrum, a yellowish, protein packed and antibodies liquid, which is tasty and healthy for the baby. During breastfeeding keep proper position of the breasts and don't think that proper position and giving good milking will empty milk from your breasts, but instead improper position will lead to dehydration in your baby. So differ nursing positions and this will help you ease your plugged ducts and reduce pressure on the affected part as well.

Unbefitting clothing plays a leading role in infection since many women wear tight and inappropriate bras almost as a fashion nowadays, which will arrest the flow of milk naturally and consequently pain, sore lumps in breast, reddishness on the surface of breasts, etc. will appear. Wearing heavy bags on the shoulders while going to take a shopping, wearing tight bathing suits and also holding breasts tightly while milking infant, which apply needless pressure on the breasts, will lead to inflammation and plugging of mammary ducts. So avoid such unnecessary phenomena. If you want to get air touch your body, wear T-shirts at night and also sleep on a towel. This will absorb any milk that may leak from your breasts while you slumber.

If you want your child to be healthy first you yourself need to keep good health. So eat healthy food and take lots of rest though you may feel you get little rest with a newborn beside you. This will help protect both you and your infant from many unhealthy conditions and infections. Take lots of juice because liquids expel enormity of dehydration.

Take care of your child and yourself. Don't allow infection to cover you. But don't get startled to know the fact that breastfeeding will never mar your figure.
