Steps to good caring of infant
Whenever a mother with her infant goes to her relatives or neighbors, her infant is very much loved and taken away from her to play with for a while. It happens only when the baby is kept clean and tidy and everyone likes to play with it keenly, otherwise everybody hesitates even to hug it. Though a mother loves her toddler in whatever condition it may be, but keeping the child clean will disperse unhealthy conditions.
Bathe your child and wrap it in a soft fuzzy towel and slowly rub its body.
Clean its ears, nose, eyes, hands, legs and also genitals. Massage it with a baby lotion in your hands gently in a circular motion starting from its shoulder to feet. Powder its body especially in the folds and avoid sprinkling on the mouth, eyes, nose and ears. Use good quality powder with good fragrance. This will prevent rasping. Using talcum powder will create respiratory problem in your child, as baby's skin is extremely sensitive. Comb hair with soft baby brush. Take advice from a pediatrician in using oils and lotions to massage your baby.
As the baby frequently keeps its finger in mouth, there are many chances of infection through nails. So clip nails when it is in deep sleep or after bathing as the water softens nails. Buy a good quality grooming set that include nail clippers, blunt edged scissors and infant nail files. While removing nails slightly lay pressure on the skin under the fingernail making the nail stick out. Cut the nail in a curved way in one motion along the curve of the finger. If you cut the nail in straight or in three or four shifts, it will leave sharp edges and there is every possibility of scuffing scratches as and when it moves it's fingers across the body. The growth of fingernails is quick and fast. So check the growth of the nails every two or three times a week. However, toenails do not grow quickly. Don't bite or tear the nails. If you do so this will cause bleeding as infant's skin is very sensitive.
Sponge daily your baby's eyes, ears and nose with a soft baby washcloth or cotton. The cloth may be dipped into warm water and squeezed out. Avoid soap and shampoos. While cleaning the face sing or make sucking noise rhythmically to divert the attention of the child. Wipe gently the nose with a cotton ball or baby washcloth. Remove the mucus or filth from the nose wiping the nostrils gently. Don't put twisted edge of cloth into the nostrils. It pains a lot. While cleaning the eyes use moist cloth. Also follow the same way to clean ears. Using earwax will keep ears clean and natural. Don't put fingers or any other tool to clean your baby's ears, eyes and nose. If you do so this may cause rupture of sensitive parts and may cause bleeding.
Master the steps and keep in mind that if you forget by chance even a less important care, it will slowly intensify the risk and annoy both the child and the mother. To keep the memories of your child, just trap some happy-go-lucky pictures of your infant.
